What is BCAA?
BCAA is a supplement highly used by people who seek to lead a healthier life in conciliation with a healthy diet and the practice of physical activities. BCAA is part of the branched chain amino acids containing in its formula: Leucine, Valine and Isoleucine. These same molecules present in BCAA are found in muscle fibers, but in greater quantity, equivalent to 35% of the main amino acids present in muscle protein. These elements contribute to a quick and effective recovery from the physical exercises practiced and to the gain of muscle mass. For that reason they are so important for those who train hard.
What is BCAA used for?
BCAA assists in contributing to the recovery of physical wear acquired during high-intensity training and increased muscle building. Among its benefits is also included the decrease in post-training discomfort, popularly known as late-onset muscle pain, as they tend to appear 12 to 24 hours after the practice of physical activity, and can remain for up to 72 hours in more intense cases. Intake of BCAA accelerates the recovery from this discomfort, leaving them shorter and milder. Giving more disposition to training day, without pain or muscle discomfort. in addition to being potent anti-catabolic, protecting muscle mass and preventing the body from entering a state of catabolism, where there is a loss of lean mass due to the intensity of the exercises.
How to take BCAA?
- This is the doubt of many people, what is the best period to take BCAA? Before, during or after training? Below you will find three answers to your question. When consumed before physical activity, due to its rapid absorption, BCAA becomes a source of energy for more intense workouts, prolonging training and avoiding fatigue.
- When consumed during physical activity, the substances present in BCAA, isoleucine and valine are converted into glucose, providing more energy and preventing fatigue during resistance training, also preventing loss of muscle mass during activity and already starting the process of recovery of lean mass that will happen with more intensity after the finished exercises.
- When consumed post-workout BCAA is a great source of protein providing better recovery and increased protein synthesis, the main amino acid leucine of the 3 present in BCAA, activates a cascade of biochemical reactions in providing muscle anabolism (gain of lean mass).
BCAA fattening?
With a composition based on amino acids, as it contains few calories, the BCAA will not contribute to weight gain, there are still scientific works that point to the BCAA in people who want to lose weight, when used in very restrictive diets, the BCAA preserves lean mass and with that the body burns more fat.
